Guru Gopal Das the trending Indian saint in the digital era
“Earning with integrity, spending with compassion is conscious capitalism. It will add value to your valuables. When you will find that purpose you will love your work otherwise work can be a drag.”
– Gaur Gopal Das
A person known for his golden motivational words of wisdom, spiritual outlook, and for his influencing knowledge on subjects related to life. Gaur Gopal Das has become an internet sensation nowadays. His spiritual & motivational speeches & wordings have created a boom in social media. He is a famous motivational strategist, monk, and coach.
This delicate man was born on 24 December 1973, into a middle-class family in Pune, Maharashtra, India.
He is a graduate in Electrical Engineering from the College of Engineering, Pune during the year 1995. He stepped towards his career as an electrical engineer in Hewlett Packard (HP) as he was his university topper. So getting placed was much easier for him. Gaur Gopal Das says that in this world, it is easy to make money but difficult to make a profound difference in the lives of the people.
This made him go join the Ashram (monastery), where he was astonished to see 10 IIT Mumbai students were there and doing well. He became a monk to motivate the crowd and to increase the spirituality in them, as a result bringing in positive transformation in their lives.
In HP, when Gaur Gopal Das was working as an electrical engineer, he could only make changes in the lives of a very few people through his profession, much like the thousands of regular employees.
Gaur Gopal Das was never satisfied with his job. He wanted to choose something different. He gave no ears to the thoughts of the society where a person’s life is insisted on to do a routine job and lead a normal life. Rather he took a path of self-discovery and opted for the rightful profession which makes him effective, happy, and provides satisfaction.
Therefore, in 1996, Gaur Gopal Das went to the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). He turned out to be a follower of Radhanath Swami at Mumbai and was hugely motivated by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
Gaur Gopal Das states that instead of quitting his profession as an engineer he improved his profession from being an electrical engineer to a lifestyle engineer. Before, as an electrical engineer he was mending the machines but today as a lifestyle engineer, he is mending the people with his spirituality.
He thought that mending people to the right way is much more important than repairing the machines as people are the ones who invented the machines.
His first thought of quitting job
During those days, when Gaur Gopal Das quit his job at HP to become a monk, he was immensely feeling that he may be missing his professional life. He was experiencing this feeling that if he continued his job as an electrical engineer; someday he would have reached heights in his work.
All his thoughts and doubts disappeared when he realized the positive impact and difference he made in the lives of the people at the monastery (ashram). At first, when he left his job, he faced opposition from his family to become a monk.
His family wanted him to do a regular job as everybody and lead a regular life but gradually, his family had to accept his decision when they figured out that he created a positive change in the people and in the world. So, he happily enhanced his profession from fixing the machines to fixing the people.
