Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 3.0 was launched to skill 8 lakh youth in new age, covid related skills will be taught. The third phase of PMKVY was launched on January 15 in 600 districts across India. In this third phase, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) focuses on training 8 lakh candidates. The MSDE declares that now the aim will be on new age and covid related skills. The ministry affirms to have enhanced the recent version of the scheme to match the current policy doctrine and energize the skilling ecosystem affected due to the covid-19 pandemic.
Objective
Objectives of this mission are given below:
- During the scheme period of 2020 to 2021, Pradhanmantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana third phase 3.0 will focus on training 8 lakh candidates with an outlay of rupees 948.90 crore.
- Provides industry related skills to the unemployed youth and school/ college dropouts
- Imparts financial and placement assistance to trained candidates
Features
- The scheme while launched was rolled out in 5 states including West Bengal later
- The district administration will play a major role in deciding training them and job matching and quality monitoring
- Around 729 Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra empanelled PMK training centres and over 200 ITI’s under Skill India Mission will be rolling out training under PMKVY 3.0 to build a robust pool of skilled professionals
- The third phase of the mission will be rolled out in all states and union territories simultaneously except five where either election related rules are covid-19 lockdown rules are in place.
Eligibility for PMKVY
Applicants of two types are eligible to apply for this scheme. Which are:
- Candidates who want to work in an industry based field.
- Candidates who have finished their +2 classes, and dropouts.
Besides, the candidates should have three documents to admit in this scheme, as follows:
- Applicant’s base card.
- Two passport size photographs.
- Aadhaar card of any family member.
Assistance under PMKVY
Some of the components for this scheme are as follows:
1. Short-Term Training:
As per this module, proper assistance is given to unemployed youth for school college dropouts in line with the National Skill Qualification Framework NSQF. More training centres provide PMKVY courses in entrepreneurship and financial and digital literacy. According to the Role of the job, the duration will vary it can range from 150 to 300 hours
2. Recognition of Prior Learning
Under this module assessment and certification is given to applicants with existing skills of prior learning experience.
3. Special Projects
This module has been designed to create a platform that facilitates training for special jobs in Government corporate or industrial bodies. It also offers specific job roles that are not defined under the qualification packs.
