International Yoga day – Sri Jaggi Vasudev’s Message and A Simple Yoga tips technique to increase oxygen level in body .
June 21 has been declared as International Yoga Day by the United Nations and is celebrated every year. The proposition to celebrate yoga day was accepted by 193 member nations. It was so popular that there wasn’t a need to go for voting and was adopted by an acclamation.
Sri Jaggi Vasudev Sadhguru, Indian yogi and author’s message on this important event.
“Yoga is the exploration of the very mechanics of life. It predates all religion and opened the possibility of raising a human being beyond limitations set by nature, if willing to strive. Making the science of Yoga available in the purest form is the responsibility of this generation. This science of inner development, wellbeing and liberation is the greatest gift for future generations. Congratulations to the Prime Minister for having initiated the process for declaring June 21 International Yoga Day.”
Due to the country’s unceasing calamitous COVID-19 crisis, Sadhguru, Founder-Isha Foundation, has exhibited simple yogic practices as a way to increase oxygen levels and boost the body’s immunity.
The second wave of pandemic infections has burdened the healthcare industry. It has caused patients without sufficient care and treatment. Acquiring a strong immune system and a healthy respiratory system is critical at this time. People who are infected by Covid are going through shortness of breath with moderate to extreme symptoms of the virus.
Sadhguru instructs some simple yogic practices like Sashtanga, Makarasana and Simha Kriya for enhancing the oxygen levels and the immune system.
Sashtanga is a yogic posture or an asana, where the body is balanced on eight points in contact with the ground. “In this asana, the entire pulmonary system of the body functions in a unique way…. In this process, the forehead, chest, both hands, both knees, and the big toes touch the ground,” spiritual master explains.
“If you follow this regimen 4-5 times a day, your oxygen levels will definitely go up. Follow this with Simha Kriya so that your immune system functions much better,” Sadhguru adds.
Simha Kriya, as per Sadhguru, boosts one’s respiratory and immune systems, develops lung capacity and polishes one to deal with the current crisis in a favorable manner. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs recently recommended the “powerful” Simha Kriya to its staffers.
This three minute yoga practice can be done by anyone, like pregnant women and people suffering from chronic illness or medical conditions like migraine, asthma, diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure.
As per the research published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine (JACM), most participants who practised Simha Kriya reported feeling more at peace, hopeful, and relaxed after the practice.
The Department of Neurosurgery and Spine Dr PV Ramana at Seven Hills Hospital, Visakhapatnam, said his experience of doing Simha Kriya. “I’ve been practising Simha Kriya since the COVID-19 crisis began. Regular practice of the process will lead to improvement in lung capacity, oxygen saturations and immunity. The most important benefit I experienced is reduction in mental stress. I recommend you to practice Simha Kriya regularly.”
Dr Shruti Gairola from AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences), shared how Simha Kriya served her respiratory function. “Immediately after completing the Kriya, I felt a soothing effect. Now I feel that my respiratory tract is much clearer,” she said.
Yoga is the medicine for almost every issue. With the help of yoga, it helps to improve your physical body and also serves in sustaining your inner peace and calming your mind. As a result, there is nothing that yoga cannot help. Furthermore, yoga isn’t a one-day practice; it’s a long lasting commitment. The more you practice yoga, the more you improve.
