Startup funding is a very desirable thing. Every startup wants to get funding. But it’s not that easy to get funded. It feels like the moment you get an idea about a startup, someone comes to your door and will say, “Here’s our funding to you”. This is not what happens. Not every startup is fundable. Funding like Venture Capitals is not available for all businesses. It is made for certain asset classes or for certain startups.

Some of the major startup funding firms in India are:

1 Reliance Industries

Sequoia Capital India is an affiliate of Sequoia Capital which is a California-based venture. Sequoia Capital concentrates on startup funding at the early seed and also in the development phase with a fixed investment structure for each of these phases.

  • Funded Startups – JustDial, Zomato, Practo, Groupon etc.

2 100X.VC

This is a Mumbai-based venture capital firm. It took part in nine funding deals this quarter. The Sanjay Mehta-led firm disclosed its Class 02 investments in nine seed-stage startups from different sectors such as Mindpeers, Pracify, and BatteryPool, among others.

3 ACCEL PARTNERS

Accel Partners is one of the earliest venture capital firms in India. It has been more than three decades since them being in the startup ecosystem. Headquartered in California, this VC firm has backed hundreds of firms and aims mainly on internet technology companies.

  • Depending on the nature of the company the investment bracket at Accel Partners ranges from $500K to $50 Million.

4 MUMBAI ANGELS NETWORK

Mumbai Angels were found to be one of the investors in defense tech startup Big Bang Boom Solutions’ $1.5 Mn Series A funding round. They also took part in BluSmart, a Delhi-based electric mobility startup’s $7 Mn worth seed funding round earlier.

5 LETSVENTURE

LetsVenture is a Singapore-headquartered online funding platform that participated in seven funding deals. One of which was BluSmart Mobility’s seed funding round, and the second was a short video sharing app and Indian TikTok alternate Mitron’s seed funding round worth INR 2 Cr in July 2020. The firm also became one of the 12 investors in Mitron’s Series A round worth $5 Mn in August.

6 MATRIX PARTNERS

A US-based venture capital firm that funds seed and early-stage startups. Matrix Partners has the philosophy of being “Founders First” i.e. not only do they invest capital in high-growth potential firms but also help them in vital areas like strategic partnerships hiring etc.

7 SAIF PARTNERS

Since 2001, the firm has been investing and is one of the most successful VC firms in India. 400 Crores USD worth of assets is managed by the fund managers. Being headquartered in India and China, SAIF invests in startups across their journey, from seed capital to high ticketed growth capital.

8 NEXUS VENTURE PARTNERS

Nexus Venture Partners is another name on the list of major startup funding in India to look out for. They mostly fund small businesses and startups in their early stages that stand out in creativity and differentiability.

9 VENTURE EAST

Since 1997, Venture East has been investing and is the longest-serving VC firm in India. The fund managers are looking after $325 million and more investments in companies in the IT sector and scientifically based startups. The firm has invested in more than 70 startups and the number is only going to increase in the future.

10 3one4 CAPITAL

3one4 Capital is an encouraging venture capital firm started by the son-duo of the renowned investor Mohandas Pai. 3one4 Capital has more than 50 investments. They not only invest capital in new-age technologically driven companies but also aid founders in their key business issues.
