Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2022
The PBD, otherwise Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention MOIA’s main event, since 2003 has been held every year from January 7th to 9th in order to connect India with its huge abroad diaspora and bring their concepts, experience and talents to a centralized channel.
This day was honored in the year 2003. It is sponsored by the ministry of overseas Indian affairs of the government of India the FICCI (federation of Indian chambers of commerce and industry) the CII (confederation of Indian industry) and the Ministry of development of the north eastern region of India.
Moreover, in 2014 the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas was held in New Delhi and there were 1,500 representatives from 51 countries who came to attend it. Along with it, the former president Pranab Mukherjee gave the Pravasi Bhartiya Samman awards.
Besides that, the ministry of overseas Indian affairs is an interactive ministry and committed to the mass of Indian nationals who are settled abroad. Furthermore, the ministry is led by a cabinet minister. To handle the various scopes of services it has four practical service divisions.

The ministry aims on enhancing networks with overseas Indians with the focus of advancing partnerships with the Diaspora. Moreover, the ministry is employed in doing some plans with them for improving trade, investment, emigration, education, health, culture, science and technology.
History
A day was taken on behalf of ideas of the HLC (High Level Committee) on the Indian Diaspora established by the government of India under the chairmanship of L. M. Singhvi. Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the then Prime Minister of India, received the report of the Committee on 8 January 2002, at Vigyan Bhavan during a public function in New Delhi, and announced the “Pravasi Bharatiya Divas” (PBD) on 9 January 2002.
Moreover, the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas will be celebrated on the coming 9th January. On this day, the greatest pravasi Mahatma Gandhi returned to India from South Africa and headed India’s freedom struggle and transformed everything for Indians forever. Gandhiji apart from changing the lives of Indian’s he also developed an example that if an individual’s dreams and desires are clear, he or she can gain anything. As a Pravasi or Non-Resident Indian, he is seen as a symbol of a transformation and development that could bring into India.
NRI has global exposure in connection with business and development ideas all around the world as per the Indian Government. By providing some opportunities to them they will contribute to the developmental process by including their concepts and incidents in their motherland India.
Significance
It not only reunites NRI’s but Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is also significant with their origins and recognize their achievements. This day also recognizes the problems experienced by Indians in exile working in other countries.
Pravasi Bharatiya Divas conventions help the development of a global network of NRI’s and the association of youth of today with the immigrants enabling them to grow and contribute largely to the Nation’s development.
Theme
The theme of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in 2021 was “Contributing to Atmanirbhar Bharat ”. The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas event occurred in the middle of the pandemic outbreak. The three-part Pravasi Divas 2021 convention was opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The theme of 2022 Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is yet to be revealed
Pravasi Bharatiya Samman
This is known to be a very big, and important honour which are awarded to the Indian who are nonresident, Institution/ establishment founded by any Indians who are nonresident or individual having Indian origin, who have helped remarkably to a better awareness and given an actual support for India’s cause and worries, community service abroad the wellbeing of the native Indian community, humanitarian, and charitable organisation.
During PBD convention, The Pravasi Bharatiya Samman award was given by the president of India to the individuals who deserve the Indian diaspora.
